care for a Botox?

February 29, 2008

I got curios of what Botox is all about? What does it mean? Why is it so popular with plastic surgery? So I make some research on it and found the following.  Botox is actually the cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to as BOTOX®. It is a material that has been known for over a century and used for medical purposes for more than 50 years. Initially it was use for strabismus (commonly known as a lazy eye), blepharospasm (inability to move the eye in certain ways), and cervical dystonia (wry neck).  It is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.   One concrete example of it was the Manhattan botox injections fill wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. In 2002, it was approved for improving and relaxing frown lines in the area between the eyes on the forehead and has been used successfully in more than half a million patients since that time.
